LRN CEO Dov Seidman Featured in Pulitzer Prize-Winning, New York Times Columnist's Latest Book, "The World is Flat"One of the country's most influential foreign affairs writers, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman argues in his new book, "The World Is Flat," that globalization is the most influential trend of the 21st century. Friedman taps Dov Seidman, CEO of LRN, to weigh in on the trend of globalization and its impact on society at large."The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century" explores the causes and the effects of increased global interconnectedness. Friedman relies upon a variety of sources in his exploration of the effects of outsourcing, the impact of technology and the economic and government forces driving an ever-expanding horizontal global society. Seidman provides his perspective on the importance of protecting and strengthening corporate reputations in an increasingly transparent and wired world. "In this world you better do it right—you don't get to pick up and move to the next town so easily, said Dov Seidman, as quoted in Friedman's book. "In the world of Google, your reputation will follow you and precede you on your next stop. It gets there before you do. Reputation starts early now." "Your reputation is getting set much earlier in life. 'Always tell the truth,' said Mark Twain, 'that way you won't have to remember what you said.'" Seidman's perspective on the business impact of legally and ethically-based corporate cultures has been featured in hundreds of business and trade publications, has helped shaped successful corporate governance programs at some of the world's largest and most respected corporations and has influenced changes in regulatory requirements. Seidman has been previously quoted in Friedman's New York Times column, most recently in his "War of Ideas" series. "The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century," was released by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in April 2005. Friedman won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for commentary, his third Pulitzer for The New York Times. Friedman joined the publication in 1981 and was appointed Beirut bureau chief in 1982. Friedman was also awarded the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting (from Lebanon) and the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting (from Israel).
