Alan G. Spoon, managing general partner of Polaris Venture Partners, joins LRN board of directorsLOS ANGELES—May 30, 2006— LRN®, a leading provider of legal, compliance, ethics management and corporate governance solutions, today announced the appointment of Alan G. Spoon, managing general partner for Polaris Venture Partners, to the LRN Board of Directors. Spoon brings his more than 20 years of operating, strategy and investment experience to the LRN board, which added former Senator Bill Bradley to its ranks late last year. “I’ve already had the good fortune to come to know Alan’s broad expertise and sound judgment first hand. Before joining Polaris in 2000, Alan served as the president, chief operating officer and member of the board of directors of The Washington Post Company. During his 18 years there, he worked in a broad range of executive positions, including as president of Newsweek. He is an investor in and a director of a variety of private technology companies in digital media and e-commerce. He has valuable experience in distance learning and educational software (Kaplan). He presently serves on the boards of Danaher Corp., Getty Images and InterActive Corp. Earlier, Alan was an officer at The Boston Consulting Group, an international management consulting firm specializing in corporate strategy.
