Veteran prosecutor, former white collar criminal join LRN CEO to keynote LRN KnowledgeForum 2007LOS ANGELES, CA – January 29, 2007 - LRN, a leading provider of governance, ethics and compliance management applications and services, today announced Deputy Assistant Attorney General Barry M. Sabin and Speaking of Ethics Founder Patrick Kuhse will join LRN CEO and Chairman Dov Seidman as the keynote speakers of the LRN KnowledgeForum 2007, an annual educational conference for the ethics and compliance profession being held on February 6-7 in Miami, Florida. Sabin, a veteran U.S. prosecutor, will review the McNulty memorandum and resulting changes to the Principles of Federal Prosecution of Business Organizations. He also will provide insight into the Department of Justice’s enforcement priorities for 2007. As a leading prosecutor in the criminal division, Sabin oversees the fraud section, criminal appellate section, gang squad and capital case unit for the department. He previously spent more than 12 years as a federal criminal prosecutor in the Southern District of Florida and has testified before Congress nine times on national security and other matters. Kuhse – once a successful stockbroker, financial planner and entrepreneur – will describe how gradual lapses in ethics led to his becoming an international fugitive and federal inmate. He will provide insight into how smart, educated and successful people become influenced by greed in the workplace and will offer advice for companies in providing the tools and support employees need to make ethical decisions on the job. Kuhse began giving talks on business ethics in 2001 to fulfill his community service obligation and has since developed a successful speaking career. Sabin and Kuhse join LRN CEO and Chairman Dov Seidman in keynoting the event. Seidman will open the conference by discussing the transformative forces in the market that have led to a new and unprecedented focus on individual and corporate conduct. He will present the view that companies who embrace principled performance are the ones who will ultimately win in the marketplace. Drawing on his personal experience advising some of the world’s most prominent companies and their boards of directors, Seidman will discuss the wide range of actions that a company and its leaders can take to inspire or transform their culture so that it generates greater operational and business performance. Seidman is a frequent speaker on how corporate leaders can promote lawful and ethical conduct in their business. In 2004, he testified before the U.S. Sentencing Commission about the need for companies to encourage cultures that self regulate based on shared corporate values rather than relying on compliance-only programs. Today, companies are measured against this higher standard. The LRN KnowledgeForum is an annual, interactive event that brings together the LRN customer community for two days of shared learning. It provides an exclusive opportunity to discuss common challenges, collaborate with peers and gain new insights into emerging trends in the field. It is one of a variety of forums that LRN sponsors throughout the year to provide ethics and compliance professionals and corporate leaders with opportunities to learn and collaborate. ###
