A new book from LRN CEO Dov Seidman offers a radically different perspective on achieving success and significance in our 21st century world

“HOW: Why How We Do Anything Means Everything…in Business (and in Life)” helps companies and individuals understand it is HOW they do what they do that now matters most

LOS ANGELES, CA – June 4, 2007 – It is how companies and individuals conduct themselves that now matters most, according to Dov Seidman, CEO of LRN and author of a new book that offers a radically different perspective on achieving success and significance in a more wired, fast-paced, transparent 21st century world.

In “HOW: Why How We Do Anything Means Everything…in Business (and in Life),” released today by John Wiley & Sons, Seidman details the changes redefining the global business landscape and why sustainable advantage now lies in the realm of how we do what we do, the frontier of human conduct.

“With at-the-moment, worldwide news coverage and increasing numbers of avid ‘whistle-bloggers,’ almost nothing goes unreported. Our memos, financial reports and the inner workings of our companies can be dissected easily in chat rooms and broadcast online,” says Seidman. “To turn the specific conditions of the age to our advantage – to thrive (not just survive) – we must learn to be actively transparent.  In our hyperconnected world, prosperity, security and lasting achievement are found not in out-performing the competition but in out-behaving them.”

Through case studies, anecdotes, first-person interviews and his personal experiences working with some of the world’s most respected businesses, Seidman argues that how a company, or an individual, thinks, behaves and governs sets it apart, facilitating stronger relationships with customers, employees, investors, partners, vendors and other stakeholders.

Included in the book are practical insights and guidance on how companies can develop self-governing business cultures that align around values and reject behaviors that are counter to them.  A number of global organizations are using HOW with their leaders, managers and workforces to realign their businesses by integrating HOW and its principles into their cultures.

A series of special events, appearances and a new Web site will highlight Seidman’s bold, new perspective in the days and weeks to come, including:

• ABC’s Good Morning America will feature Seidman on its Tuesday, June 5 program.
• The National Press Club in Washington D.C. will host Seidman with noted New York Times' columnist Thomas L. Friedman, discussing contemporary corporate culture and principled business performance on Monday, June 18.
• www.HowsMatter.com is the center of a community dedicated to the HOW philosophy.  The site includes discussion forums, an interactive blog as well as guidance and counsel on ways individuals and companies can get their hows right.  Further information on HOW is also available at www.LRN.com/how.

Seidman is the founder, chairman and CEO of LRN.  Leading companies such as Disney, Dow Chemical, eBay, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Raytheon and 3M turn to LRN to help management govern more effectively and workers do the right things the right way, even in the most challenging of situations.

Seidman is a recognized thought leader on ethics, compliance, leadership and culture. In 2004, he testified before the U.S. Sentencing Commission about the need for companies to focus on ethical cultures instead of check-the-box, compliance-only approaches. Today, companies are evaluated by this higher standard.
